Who We Are

Overview

our mission

"Bring relevant and effective awareness of Endometriosis, P.C.O.S. and similar debilitating pelvic disorders to the Barbadian population that encourages discourse with and tangible support for those who have these conditions”.

We at the BAEP seek to bring awareness to these “invisible illnesses” and their direct impact on the individual and extended impact on the society. We do this whilst working with stakeholders and beneficiaries to improve the quality of life of the girls and women in our community who have been diagnosed by engaging in meaningful dialogue and providing access to as many relevant resources as possible.
our vision statement

Our vision is to create an all-inclusive integrated community in Barbados that makes provisions for the support of endometriosis, P.C.O.S., and other similar gynecological disorders.

our mission
We are the only registered charity in Barbados that advocates for both endometriosis and P.C.O.S. Registered in 2016 by co-founders Dawn Williams, Julia Mandeville, and Ramona Grandison, who collectively have both conditions, the Association seeks to educate persons and provide relevant resources to those battling with the conditions. Our slogan “Invisible does NOT mean imaginary!” speaks to the changing of the narrative about these conditions. We seek to be innovative in our work and approach.
our OBJECTIVES

• To increase awareness of Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and other similar gynecological disorders (excluding cancer) in Barbados

• To provide a voice and advocacy for those diagnosed and living with Endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

• To provide a forum for research and collaboration between all major stakeholders

• To promote the importance of early diagnosis and effective, relevant treatment options

• To provide psychological, emotional and financial support to persons living with Endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome to the best of our ability and within our resource constraints.

Specifically, as we work towards the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals of Good Health and Wellbeing (Goal 3), Quality Education (Goal 4), Gender Equality (Goal 5) and Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8), The impact of Endometriosis, P.C.O.S, other debilitating gynecological conditions and “invisible illnesses” must be taken more seriously.

Society must be made aware of disorders and conditions which have not only a physical and physiological effect but also have a psychological association and decreased lead to levels of productivity.
